Some homes feature slate roofs. Tree-lined Rush Boulevard

At the southernmost border of Youngstown lies Boulevard Park, a picturesque vintage neighborhood comprised of Euclid and Rush Boulevards and a portion of Midlothian Boulevard.

Named for its lovely park-like setting and authentic boulevards, mature trees form a canopy over the double thoroughfares of Boulevard Park.  Its medians are lined with lamp posts and its signature Buckeye trees, creating a perfect backdrop for a walk, jog or chat with a neighbor.

Boulevard Park consists of approximately 200 single family homes.  The neighborhood is home to a large number of professionals, as well as small business owners, white collar workers, working class people, and retirees.  Ease of living is enjoyed by residents and enhanced by the central location: a grocery store, pharmacy, bank, and filling station are just around the corner on South Avenue, a 10 minute drive can take you to the cultural center of downtown Youngstown or to various local and national retailer shops in the suburb of Boardman.  The freeway system can be accessed in a mere 1.6 miles.  Long standing family owned businesses and institutions add to the local character and are only minutes away.

Types of Homes

Boulevard Park is best known for its high quality brick houses, many with original features intact.  Situated on 50’ x 165’ city lots, these houses offer unique architecture at a manageable size.  Although built over a span of three decades, the architecture blends seamlessly from home to home.  Types of houses located in Boulevard Park include Craftsman style bungalows, Colonial Revival, Foursquares, Dutch Colonial, Georgian Revival influence, Tudor style, English style, and Cape Cods with sharp peaks of the Tudor influence.

Testimonials

"It's five minutes to everywhere!"
Carrie Neville, Boulevard Park

“My wife and I love the neighborhood.  As an urban planner, I was looking for a house in an area with all the elements of a neotraditional neighborhood:  walkable, tree-lined streets, sidewalks, reasonable-sized lots with garages pushed to the back of the property line, and houses that were well-constructed and with character (not cookie-cutter).  All these things we’ve found living in Boulevard Park (not to mention the great neighbors)!”
Patrick Howard, Boulevard Park (Moved from Philadelphia)

"Besides living in a great old bungalow, I want every house in the neighborhood to be old.  I have that here in Boulevard Park.  Nothing new to offend my senses, and no McMansions!"
Tammy Mistovich, Boulevard Park

NOTE:  A number of surrounding communities have open enrollment in their school district.  These communities offer private school options, as well.  This option is a consideration while living in the City of Youngstown because there is virtually no traffic congestion in the region.

Some schools on this list might offer curriculum for children with special needs.  Nevertheless, additional schools do exist in the City and surrounding communities that specialize in providing such services.
