Youngstown, Ohio is a city with a rich history
and an exciting future.
Youngstown is known for being the third largest steel producing city
in the country during the early to mid-twentieth century. The
City had the highest household income per capita in the United States
around that same period (see Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley
1933, p. 45, published by The Youngstown Chamber of Commerce). Youngstown was on the same level as places like New
York City and Chicago with its packed downtown streets, night life and
booming economy. Entertainers like Frank Sinatra would make it a
point to bring their performances to Youngstown.
Today, Youngstown is a smaller city of
only 80,000 people but still retains many of the cultural
institutions, parks and beautiful architecture from its past.
Many retirees, families, couples and singles are rediscovering
Youngstown. With over 100 neighborhoods to choose from, you
might find more than one neighborhood you want to call home. And
no, those are not typos regarding home prices. Youngstown enjoys the
most affordable housing market in the country (see “What’s Next for
Home Prices”, Money Magazine, June 2006). The price and quality
of Youngstown’s housing stock will leave you speechless. The secret’s
out! |
